PSG won´t shock Valenciennes

Valenciennes coach Antoine Kombouare is not fooled by Paris St Germain´s poor start to the season and has urged his men to be ready to defend their fortress, the Stade Nungesser, on Saturday.

PSG have won only two of their 10 games this season but both those victories came away from the Parc des Princes.

And with Valenciennes yet to lose at home, Kombouare knows his side must prepare for a real battle at the Nungesser.

“It will be a battle of wills on Saturday,” he told his club website, www.va-fc.com.

“At the moment we have a great record at home and we need to keep up these great results against PSG. But they have won eight out of 11 points away from home and haven´t lost. They´re practically the best side in the league away from home.

“But I´m expecting a recharged Valenciennes side after our defeat at Lille. It´s important that we continue to have great results at home – for us and for our supporters.”

Last season, PSG only secured their place in Ligue 1 with two matches remaining.

And without a victory at home this season, PSG need to continue their great away form to push them away from the relegation zone.

Club president Alain Cayzac blasted his team after their 3-1 defeat to Rennes before the international break, but young starlet Didier Digard is confident PSG can get back to winning ways on Saturday, even without influential midfielder Jerome Rothen who is suspended for the clash.

“The team is determined to regroup after the shocks against Rennes and Bordeaux in front of our supporters,” the 21-year-old told PSG´s official website.

“We go to Valenciennes with an enormous motivation, a real desire to win. And we will do everything possible to ensure that we return with the three points.”
